You can help student Veterans by taking the SVA Census survey

The SVA Census is an annual survey that collects data on student Veterans, alumni and other military-connected students. Student Veterans of America (SVA) uses this anonymous information in discussions with policy makers, partners and the public. It is one of the few national-level sources containing student Veteran demographic data, and that’s why it’s so important to participate.

SVA elevates the academic, professional and personal development of Veterans in higher education through chapter programs and services, outcomes and impacts research, and advocacy at every level. With a mission focused on empowering student Veterans, the organization is committed to providing an educational experience that goes beyond the classroom.

This online survey helps SVA better understand the changing needs of Student Veterans and how best to serve them as they pursue higher education. For example, did you know that two-thirds of student Veterans choose to study something totally different than their military specialization in college? Last year’s results also showed an average GPA of 3.41, which is higher than the traditional student average.

There is no federal or national database that contains demographic information on student Veterans. This leads to an under sampling of student Veterans and an over sampling of other student groups, resulting inaccurate data. The SVA Census fills this gap by surveying the student Veteran community annually. Results from the SVA Census are also shared with other Veterans’ groups, lawmakers and the public to better inform our entire community.

The SVA Census is now open. Please encourage student Veterans, alumni and other military-connected students that you know to complete the 2021 SVA Census. And, don’t forget to take the survey yourself.

Can we count on you to take the survey and share it with your network?
